Life

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

My friend sets sail

I have had the privilege of knowing "JC" since November of 06. JC is a very interesting man who has accomplished many things in his life. At his retirement he had the boat in the picture you see custom built. It is a one of a kind houseboat that not only carries 2500 gallons of diesel, but is built to carry his convertible mustang on his journeys. He and the "Pied Piper" have traveled from the great lakes to the gulf. JC now over 80 left out on another trip today to Hendersonville TN. I have learned a lot from this man not the least of which life is to be lived to the fullest.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.

Happy Birthday Mona!

Some of the kids made Mona a birthday card (a very large card) The kids billed it as the "worlds largest" Thanks Mona for all you do, and thanks Kids for being so thoughtful.

Celebrating a touchdown red neck style

Last year at Joe T High School we had a young man who would run with the school flag when ever a touchdown was made. Well this year another young man decided that running was for the birds, and the best way to show school spirit was with a red neck, jacked up go cart. It brings the crowd to their feet every time it runs down the track.

We would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone who voted for Bucky in the CMT contest. We just received word that our video was selected as the grand prize winner! This means that CMT will come to Hackleburg and possibly interview all of the youth who were involved in the film!
Look for the winner, COGOP Hackleburg Youth, to be announced on CMT's Top 20 Countdown on Sept. 27. The winning video will also be revealed on CMT.com.

Team 180

Today was youth Sunday. Our youth group Team 180 led worship, scripture reading, devotions/message etc.. I am really proud of our youth group they did a great job! After services we had a spaghetti dinner raising monies for our youth program, more specifically monies to attend a Christian concert coming to town (we raised @$300.00) During the desert portion of the meal we had a round of the "not so newly wed game" A couple married only three years (Tim and Sharon) beat out a 5 year, 29 year and 44 year couple.
